The elevator went straight to the top floor, where the room was neat and equipped with smart home technology, quite similar to the environment of the Imperial Star Center.
“This is a renovation I did later myself. If you don’t mind, you can stay here for now.”
“It’s already very nice, thank you.”
“What about my room?” Lu Ting asked.
The councilman led Lu Ting to the room across the hall.
In comparison, this room seemed to have been neglected for a long time, the iron-frame bed covered in dust, and the central air conditioning was broken.
“How can anyone stay in a place like this?” Lu Ting insisted, “Help me find a room at least as good as this.”
The councilman lowered his head, “Sir, the conditions at the camp are limited. Aren’t you making things difficult for me?”
“Are you feeling so secure now that he is backing you up that you think you can disregard me?” Lu Ting lowered his voice, “I can’t deal with him, but taking care of you is still quite simple.”
“Then I will report back to the emperor accurately that you couldn’t even handle this trivial matter.”
“You!”
Lu Ting was too lazy to argue with him. Although he had not brought his personal attendants, he had planted many informants and forces within the legion.
These small issues were a little annoying, but they could all be resolved.
What was more critical was winning the hearts of the people during this period of conflict.
Lu Ting was very confident about this.
His mental strength was high, and he had trained deliberately in using mechas, which would undoubtedly make him far superior compared to this commoner who had never even seen a mecha.
After they had put their things away, Tong Sui and the others were brought to the mecha hangar.
Inside was cold, with steel walls, and the temperature was much lower than outside.
This was the most important area of the entire camp.
Inside the hangar were various mechas, each one more impressive in size than what he had seen in videos.
A group of mechanics was finishing repairs on a mecha that had been crafted at great expense by Harvey but left abandoned at the front line.
It was the Empire’s latest generation mecha, top-notch in both defense and agility, so it had withstood the energy blast attacks with minor damage overall.
It was entirely white, like a snow-covered mountain.
It was even more aesthetically pleasing than in the videos, resembling a slumbering iron beast with an undeniable presence of power.
Tong Sui was drawn closer, hearing the mechanics arguing.
“I suggest we remove part of the neural link network. It’s too demanding for mental strength, and hardly any bugs can control it.”
“But that would cripple the performance of ‘Blizzard’, wasting its cutting-edge biocommunication technology.”
“Better to waste it than have it be unusable. If its pilot can’t handle it on the battlefield, it simply becomes a target. Isn’t what happened before embarrassing enough?”
Noticing Tong Sui’s approach, several mechanics stopped their discussion.
“Who are you—”
One of the mechanics suddenly recognized him, covering his mouth and exclaiming, “Prince Tong Sui?!”
“I can’t be dreaming, quick, slap me!”
The mechanic shouted excitedly, as if he wasn’t the one who had just been intensely debating.
“Is there a chance that ‘Blizzard’ can be saved? If Prince Tong Sui can control it, it will definitely demonstrate its true power!”
Other mechanics seemed awakened, their fervent gazes turning towards Tong Sui, as if he had become their savior.
“It’s called ‘Blizzard’?”
Tong Sui gently raised his hand, placing it against the sturdy, cold exoskeleton of the mecha.
The mental sea in his mind seemed to awaken, stirring joyfully, captivated by this mysterious and powerful mecha.
“Yes, yes, yes, that’s its code name. It’s designed specifically for male bugs and is the latest generation mecha that has high compatibility with mental seas, along with automatic recognition and targeting functionalities. The cockpit can accommodate two bugs operating it simultaneously.”
“Do you, do you want to give it a try?”
For such a mecha, it was almost every boy’s childhood dream, and Tong Sui was no exception. However, he had never considered that he would one day have the chance to test it personally.
Lu Ting remarked, “You want someone who has never touched a mecha to operate a top-tier one like ‘Blizzard’?”
“Duke Lu Ting.”
A few overly excited mechanics finally noticed his presence and quietly asked, “Are you suggesting you want to give it a try?”
“Yes, I have used several mechas before, and I’d like to see if this new ‘Blizzard’ is really as difficult to control as you say.”
Lu Ting’s tone was noticeably gentler than usual.
“But…”
One of the mechanics wanted to say more but was nudged by a colleague nearby, “Let him try; we can’t afford to offend him.”
“Fine.”
What the mechanic wanted to say was that even though Harvey looked bulky, he was a legitimate A-class male bug.
And he had only managed to make ‘Blizzard’ stand up and walk a few steps without incident.
But since Lu Ting was insisting on testing it, they could not stop him.
The back door of the hangar opened, revealing an open expanse of wasteland.
They all went up to the second-floor viewing platform.
Lu Ting sat in the cockpit of ‘Blizzard’.
Tong Sui turned to Bai Xingluo, “Luo Luo, with your experience, do you think he can be compatible with ‘Blizzard’?”
“Him?” Bai Xingluo chuckled lightly, “You think too highly of him.”
The nearby mechanics seemed to have heard this and, as if sensing something important, turned to look.
They examined Bai Xingluo from top to bottom; although his appearance was unfamiliar, there was something about his aura that felt familiar.
For a moment, they even thought that General Bai Xingluo had returned.
As they conversed, the pure white mecha finally began to move.
